Horizontal

Horizontally oriented thermal shock chambers have three independent zones side by side: hot, ambient, and cold. The addition of the ambient zone allows for three-zone testing, which is a requirement of some military standards.

This unique and versatile chamber configuration can also be used for dual-zone testing. This is achieved by programming the product holder to automatically transfer the product from hot to cold and vice versa, eliminating the need to pause in the ambient zone.

Vertical

Vertically oriented thermal shock chambers have two independently controlled hot and cold zones; one above the other. A single product conveyor moves between each zone, subjecting the product to large temperature variations.

An advantage of the vertical orientation chamber is that it uses less floor space, making it ideal for smaller laboratories.

Double

Thermotron dual-function thermal shock chambers have a cold zone positioned between two hot zones, aligned vertically at the top and bottom.

The test products are placed in one of the two baskets and transferred between the zones that produce a strong thermal stress. At least one product conveyor always occupies the cold zone.

This configuration makes efficient use of the chamber cooling system, providing better product testing performance than standard thermal shock designs.

The humidification system we manage includes both direct and indirect systems, without aerosol. Radiation, dust, rain, salt fog and cyclic tests are some of the possible specialties. What is a climate chamber?

A climatic chamber, also called an environmental chamber or environmental test chamber or environmental simulation chamber, is an apparatus, an instrument used to test the effects of certain environmental conditions on materials, biological elements, industrial products, pharmaceuticals, devices and electronic components. Fratelli Galli designs and builds a wide range of climatic chambers able to satisfy every need.

So what is a climate chamber?

A climatic chamber is a volume that can be a few litres, or a space of many metres3, a space within which the environmental conditions to which machinery, materials, devices or components might be exposed are artificially reproduced.
For example, Galli offers chambers from 30L to 3000L for classic tests of products arranged on shelves or supports, and then move on to the GWALKIN models, which are real compartments, accessible and walkable rooms where it is possible to arrange shelves or position large artefacts, enter with pallet trucks or forklifts = Accessible climatic chamber.

What is a climate chamber used for?

Climatic chambers are used to test and in some cases accelerate the effects of exposure to the standard environment or the extreme environment of a product or artifact. The main function of an environmental test chamber is to test the behavior of the products we use daily, in extreme climatic conditions; evaluate the limits, predict the defects in order to guarantee and improve the quality of the product. How does a climatic test chamber work?

The Galli climatic chamber is designed to allow environmental simulation and is therefore able to manage thermo-climatic situations with positive and negative temperature control, the climatic chambers also manage relative humidity and dehumidification, some models are able to simulate exposure to daylight, UV light and Xenon light, or simulate accelerated aging with spray or exposure to gas. The operation of the climatic chamber is normally managed by a microprocessor or PLC which, by means of actuators, commands and controls all the relevant parts, such as refrigeration compressors, liquid nitrogen (LN2) or liquid carbon dioxide (CO2), electrical resistances, electronic valves, humidifiers, lights, gas, … A control panel and remote control on PC, LAN, Web allows the operator to control the climatic cell, allowing the setting of continuous duration tests and the programming of complex thermodynamic cycles and repetitions.

Can the climatic chamber be combined with other types of tests?

Climatic chambers, in addition to environmental simulation of temperature, humidity, light, radiation, can be combined with mechanical stress tests such as Electrodynamic Vibration or Pneumatic Random Vibration tests, Extreme Thermal Shock tests by switching from extremely cold to extremely hot conditions in an extremely short period of time, Altitude tests. In addition to standard climatic chambers, Fratelli Galli offers a design service that is able to develop complex tests where there are different combinations of tests in a single laboratory instrument.

How to set up a climate chamber in the laboratory

The installation of a climatic chamber in the laboratory requires some precautions and Fratelli Galli is available to guide you in the installation.
First of all, check that there is enough space for its positioning, leaving some space for ventilation.
The installation location should be with an ambient temperature between 15°C and 30°C and relative humidity not exceeding 85%
The environment must be well ventilated and free from strong magnetic fields, vibrations or fuels.
A well-made electrical system with a capacity suitable to support the new climate cell and efficient earthing is essential.
Water supply, the water needed to control the relative humidity is another factor that must be taken into consideration, the Galli climatic chamber offers the possibility of being connected directly or of taking the water needed for correct operation from a tank.
