IMPROVED PERFORMANCE
Air Baffle
Optimizing the airflow in the work area is essential for a successful test. Repeat tests and maintain consistent, accurate results with Thermotron’s innovative air deflector. It is designed to evenly and forcefully distribute air directly onto the product,* ensuring that the entire product is conditioned. The superior airflow provided by the air deflector improves product temperature change rates, narrows temperature gradients and improves uniformity throughout the chamber working space.
Product temperature control
Product Temperature Control (PTC) is a software and thermocouple system used to increase product temperature ramp rates with user-defined temperature offsets. This feature is configured and controlled via the 8800 controller. During conventional environmental testing, the workspace air temperature setpoint is reached before the product temperature reaches it. The product temperature will lag behind and approach the air temperature at an exponentially decreasing rate. The PTC reduces product ramp times by up to 50% by overdriving the chamber air conditioning system until the product temperature reaches the desired setpoint. In the example above, the workspace air temperature reaches 65°C and holds until the desired product temperature setpoint of 55°C is reached. As the product temperature approaches the setpoint, the air temperature converges with the product temperature, so both are at 55°C. This ensures accurate test results for the product during environmental testing. PTC works for both heating and cooling.
Energy Saving (optional)
This innovative feature increases cooling performance and reduces chamber energy consumption. Power Saver Plus mode works with the 8800 controller to determine whether to operate in single-stage or cascade mode, based on the temperature setpoint, humidity mode, and cooling throttle. Single-stage refrigeration systems operate faster in the higher temperature ranges, while cascade refrigeration systems operate faster in the lower temperature ranges. Power Saver Plus combines the advantages of both systems. It uses sophisticated control logic to allow switching between systems, thereby increasing cooling ramp times by up to 30%, all while reducing energy consumption.
Heating/Cooling Boost (optional)
Additional features enhance the cooling and heating performance of the chamber. LN₂ Boost and CO₂ Boost Liquid nitrogen (LN₂) boost and carbon dioxide (CO₂) boost are cooling injection systems that enable faster heat removal and dissipation from the product under test. Extra Heat This additional feature accelerates the heating capabilities of the chamber to improve the rates of change of air and product temperature.
8800 CONTROLLER
Intuitive, robust, safe
The exclusive Thermotron 8800 Windows®-based controller with 12-inch color touchscreen makes chamber operation and data collection easy and reliable. Quick navigation buttons provide shortcuts to user-selected screens.
The 8800 controller is standard on all SE Series cameras. With this controller, you get:
• Multi-level password-based security system to protect data
• Test data that can be downloaded in spreadsheet formats
• An activity register: records and maintains more than 15 years of chamber history
• Product temperature control to improve product change rates by overcompensating air temperature to control product temperature
• System Monitor to detect excessive refrigeration pressures and temperatures and alert users when problems occur
• Product dew point control to prevent condensation by keeping the product at a higher temperature than the dew point of the surrounding air (optional)
• ThermoTrak II™ for connecting up to 32 controllers to one PC (optional)
MODULAR HUMIDITY SYSTEM
Temperature-Humidity
SE Series chamber models include a patented, modular, full-range humidity system. Precise uniformity and tight control characterize the high-performance specifications of this humidity system. With excellent low humidity accuracy, the electronic humidity sensor (located in the work area) eliminates the need for thermocouple wicks and float tanks. A steam generator achieves high humidity volumes with consistent water vapor levels and more repeatable test results. The humidification system can be configured with a direct feed plant connection or a self-contained refillable water tank. If the water tank is used, the wet water purification and recirculation system is recommended to keep water within the working limits of the chamber. A demineralizer cartridge viewing window allows users to see the cartridge without opening the doors. The low humidity option incorporates dry air purge and a bubbler humidity system to control humidity to extremely low dew points. This eliminates the two problems associated with adding hot steam to a cold environment: heat that must be removed from the system and oscillation of the steam generator, which negatively impact test results. Humidity test numbers can be viewed, monitored and controlled using the 8800 controller. If you have a temperature-only chamber, the modular humidity system can be added as a retrofit in the field.
UNIVERSAL DOOR
The patented Universal Door can be installed in the side wall of the SE Series chambers, expanding the capabilities of the chamber by diversifying equipment usage, increasing laboratory productivity, and reducing capital investment costs. The Universal Door interfaces with interchangeable modules and accessories that feature different stress testing and simulation techniques, allowing the chamber to serve multiple purposes. With the Universal Door, a temperature chamber can become a HALT chamber, a thermal shock chamber, or a remote air conditioner without the need to purchase an additional chamber. The height of the Universal Door, modules, and accessories is consistent across all SE Series chamber models. The stainless steel door reduces moisture migration and heat loss. A complete seal The structural cap fills the portal with a pressurized fit when the door is not in use
Thermotron’s AGREE test chambers offer the flexibility to adapt to changing environmental testing requirements. Chambers are available in temperature-only or temperature and humidity configurations. Rapid heat change rates from 5°C up to 30°C are available. These environmental chambers can become vibration chambers when seamlessly integrated with a Thermotron electrodynamic shaker or repetitive shock vibration table.
This diversifies the usefulness of the chamber because it can be used as a stand-alone temperature environmental chamber or for combined environmental testing. Thermotron AGREE chambers were originally designed for the defense and aerospace industries to perform temperature, humidity and vibration testing compliant with MIL-STD 781 and 883. Since then, AGREE vibration chambers have been adapted to perform reliability, qualification and environmental stress screening (ESS) for a wide range of industries, including electronics, aerospace, automotive and telecommunications.

What is a climate chamber?
A climatic chamber, also called an environmental chamber or environmental test chamber or environmental simulation chamber, is an apparatus, an instrument used to test the effects of certain environmental conditions on materials, biological elements, industrial products, pharmaceuticals, devices and electronic components. Fratelli Galli designs and builds a wide range of climatic chambers able to satisfy every need.
So what is a climate chamber?
A climatic chamber is a volume that can be a few litres, or a space of many metres3, a space within which the environmental conditions to which machinery, materials, devices or components might be exposed are artificially reproduced.
For example, Galli offers chambers from 30L to 3000L for classic tests of products arranged on shelves or supports, and then move on to the GWALKIN models, which are real compartments, accessible and walkable rooms where it is possible to arrange shelves or position large artefacts, enter with pallet trucks or forklifts = Accessible climatic chamber.
What is a climate chamber used for?
Climatic chambers are used to test and in some cases accelerate the effects of exposure to the standard environment or the extreme environment of a product or artifact. For example, Galli Climatic Chambers can be used for trials and tests to measure the environmental effects on material specimens, to prepare specimens for further physical or chemical tests later,
to simulate specific or extreme environmental conditions and to conduct tests on samples. Not only that, some Galli climatic chambers are used for Emissions tests, to understand which substances are released by various components and products and must respect certain limits.
What is the relationship between the tests and climatic chamber tests and the products?
The main function of an environmental test chamber is to test the behavior of the products we use daily, in extreme climatic conditions; evaluate the limits, predict the defects in order to guarantee and improve the quality of the product. For example, tests and trials of the influence of temperature and humidity on the properties of fabrics, packaging, building materials, plastics, composites, adhesives, metals, electronic components, microprocessors, … Ageing and storage of building material samples, incubation of cells or fungal spores on plants in humid conditions, drying tests and trials, Accelerated ageing, Stability tests of drugs, research and development tests, shelf line studies in the Food Industry.
How does a climatic test chamber work?
The Galli climatic chamber is designed to allow environmental simulation and is therefore able to manage thermo-climatic situations with positive and negative temperature control, the climatic chambers also manage relative humidity and dehumidification, some models are able to simulate exposure to daylight, UV light and Xenon light, or simulate accelerated aging with spray or exposure to gas. The operation of the climatic chamber is normally managed by a microprocessor or PLC which, by means of actuators, commands and controls all the relevant parts, such as refrigeration compressors, liquid nitrogen (LN2) or liquid carbon dioxide (CO2), electrical resistances, electronic valves, humidifiers, lights, gas, … A control panel and remote control on PC, LAN, Web allows the operator to control the climatic cell, allowing the setting of continuous duration tests and the programming of complex thermodynamic cycles and repetitions.
Can the climatic chamber be combined with other types of tests?
Climatic chambers, in addition to environmental simulation of temperature, humidity, light, radiation, can be combined with mechanical stress tests such as Electrodynamic Vibration or Pneumatic Random Vibration tests, Extreme Thermal Shock tests by switching from extremely cold to extremely hot conditions in an extremely short period of time, Altitude tests. In addition to standard climatic chambers, Fratelli Galli offers a design service that is able to develop complex tests where there are different combinations of tests in a single laboratory instrument.
