Hybridizing Oven

The hybridization oven by Fratelli Galli is a laboratory equipment used mainly in molecular biology to perform controlled hybridization processes of nucleic acids (DNA or RNA). This instrument guarantees a constant and homogeneous temperature, creating optimal conditions for the interaction between probes and target sequences during blotting techniques or other molecular assays.

Info

The Galli hybridization oven is a laboratory equipment mainly used in molecular biology to perform controlled hybridization processes of nucleic acids (DNA or RNA). This instrument guarantees a constant and homogeneous temperature, creating optimal conditions for the interaction between probes and target sequences during blotting techniques or other molecular assays, through an appropriate rotary agitation system and adequate rotisserie .

What is it for?

The hybridization oven is used to incubate membranes (such as Southern blot , Northern blot or Western blot ) in the presence of labeled probes, in order to promote specific binding between the probe and the target sequence. Unlike other incubation methods, it offers precise temperature control and a rotary or oscillating motion to ensure uniform distribution of solutions, improving the efficiency of the process.

Main applications

  1. Southern blot – For the detection of specific DNA sequences.
  2. Northern blot – For RNA analysis and gene expression.
  3. Western blot – Although less common, it can be used for incubations with antibodies.
  4. In situ hybridization – For the analysis of gene expression in tissue or cellular samples.
  5. Denaturation and pre-incubation – Used for controlled heat treatments of biological samples.

Thanks to its precision and ability to maintain optimal conditions, the hybridization oven is an essential tool in genetic research, molecular biology and diagnostic laboratories.
