Salt Spray & Corrosion Chambers

Galli Salt Spray chambers create a climate full of salt and humidity, often with high temperatures. The samples placed inside are continuously exposed to a highly saline and corrosive environment.

These corrosion chambers proposed by Fratelli Galli satisfy the majority of the most common tests and are ideal for quality control applications and for the research and development of new products.

Salt spray (also known as salt fog) continues to be the corrosion test of choice for comparing actual product performance with expected performance – in accordance with international standards. It is therefore a very popular test for quality control.

The Standard models are designed for continuous salt spray testing, conducted at a single user-adjustable temperature, e.g. ASTM B117, ISO 9227, JIS Z 2371 etc. They can be used with neutral pH salt solutions (SNS) or test solutions acidified by the addition of acetic acid (ASS) or cupric acid (CASS).

Corrosale, by Galli, is an exceptionally pure form of Sodium Chloride (NaCl), specially refined for corrosion testing.
Although common salt is readily available, finding pure, additive-free sodium chloride, as required by the Standards, is much more difficult. This is because, due to its hygroscopic nature, which causes it to clump or solidify, most commercial salts, such as table salt, require the addition of anti-caking agents—substances that are not permitted in most official test methods.
The ASTM B117 Standard, the most recognized in the world for salt spray testing, explicitly prohibits the use of anti-caking agents and also imposes strict limits on contamination levels: total impurities must be less than 0.3%, halides (excluding chloride) must be less than 0.1%, and copper must not exceed 0.3 ppm. These limits require highly purified salt.
Not only does ASTM B117 require purity, but other international corrosion testing standards are equally demanding.
To ensure that Corrosale fully meets these requirements, Galli supplies each package of Corrosale with a Certificate of Analysis that guarantees its quality.

A CCT Cyclic Salt Spray is able to reproduce, in the same chamber:
– a saline environment (the same as Salt Spray Chambers)
– a dry environment
– a humid environment even with condensation
Furthermore, it is possible to create and reproduce Cyclic Tests with different thermo-climatic environments, thanks to the wide range of accessories. All these situations can be programmed by selecting temperatures, times, sequences, number of cycles, repetitions, all with the same test chamber. Flexible and at a fair price, these chambers are ideal for research and development applications.

Galli exclusively offers Ascott Analytical CCT Cyclic Salt Spray chambers.
We propose Ascott because it is a leading company like us and we like to offer the best to our customers.

There are five volumes available:

What is salt spray? It is a laboratory apparatus that allows the study of corrosion.
Corrosion is a reduction in profit, i.e. a Loss. Corrosion affects everyone, from the manufacturer to the user who sees the value of the purchased good reduced. Although Corrosion is a natural phenomenon that everyone knows, the study of the phenomenon requires a very specific specialization. Only a vast experience can meet the needs of industries that ask to limit the phenomenon. Galli is proud to present a range of equipment at the forefront of technology for corrosion tests. Our specialty is to reproduce and control a corrosive environment inside a cell that is commonly called Corrosion Chamber or Salt Spray, Acetic. Corrosion Chambers are made in different models and with different sizes to meet the various needs of the tests. The samples to be tested are placed inside the Chamber to determine their resistance to corrosion, often in accordance with international regulations and standards.

How are salt sprays classified?
The Galli Salt Mist Rooms are mainly divided by volume and according to their functions.
Standard Salt Spray Chambers , in English Salt Spray Chambers ; with Spray and Temperature control are the most widespread and used. Galli apparatus are designed for continuous salt spray tests, conducted at a single user-adjustable temperature, for example ASTM B117, ISO 9227, JIS Z 2371 etc. These laboratory instruments can be used with neutral pH salt solutions (SNS) or test solutions acidified by the addition of acetic acid (ASS) or cupric acid (CASS).
Premium or Extra Salt Spray Chambers; these are devices that control Spray, Temperature and can perform Dry or Condensation phases, they allow the execution of tests and trials according to international standards ASTM, ISO, DIN, GM, FIAT, MIL, VDA, …
Cyclic Salt Spray Chambers called Cyclic Corrosion Test Chambers , also known as CCT Chambers, or with other commercial acronyms, which allow you to alternate periods of Salt Spray with periods of Humid, Dry, Condensation. These corrosion chambers, in addition to satisfying all the Standard and Premium Salt Spray tests, allow with various accessories to satisfy national and international standards, whether they are Standard ISO 9227, ASTM B117, or BS, DIN, GM, FIAT, DEF, IEC, JIS, MIL, VDA,…
Modified Atmosphere Combined Corrosion Chambers , such as the Atmosfär models, with additional features enable compliance with specific automotive test requirements such as Ford and Volvo standards. These may include salt spray application by means of a movable spray bar at the top, a high velocity vertical air drying system and refrigerated dehumidification. Volvo & Ford CCT test standards. Alternating salt and cyclic corrosion test chambers developed for the new Ford and Volvo cyclic corrosion test (CCT) standards: Ford CETP 00.00-L-467, Volvo VCS 1027, capsule 149 (ACT-1), Volvo VCS 1027, sick 1449 (ACT-2), Volvo STD 423-0014, Volvo STD 1027,1375. Fratelli Galli is available to analyze the customer’s needs.

Furthermore, the Galli range is completed for corrosion tests by:
