Salt fog

products

Salt spray (also known as salt fog) continues to be the corrosion test of choice for comparing actual product performance with expected performance – in accordance with international standards. It is therefore a very popular test for quality control.
They create a climate full of salt and humidity, often with high temperatures. The samples placed inside them are continuously exposed to a highly saline and corrosive environment. These chambers proposed by Fratelli Galli satisfy the majority of the most common tests and are ideal for quality control applications.
The Standard models are designed for continuous salt spray testing, conducted at a single user-adjustable temperature, e.g. ASTM B117, ISO 9227, JIS Z 2371 etc. They can be used with neutral pH salt solutions (SNS) or test solutions acidified by the addition of acetic acid (ASS) or cupric acid (CASS).

Performance

Temperature range Adjustable according to ambient temperature up to +50°C
Precipitate Adjustable from 0.5 to 2.5 ml per 80cm2/h

Corrosale, by Galli, is an exceptionally pure form of Sodium Chloride (NaCl), specially refined for corrosion testing.
Although common salt is readily available, finding pure, additive-free sodium chloride, as required by the Standards, is much more difficult. This is because, due to its hygroscopic nature, which causes it to clump or solidify, most commercial salts, such as table salt, require the addition of anti-caking agents—substances that are not permitted in most official test methods.
The ASTM B117 Standard, the most recognized in the world for salt spray testing, explicitly prohibits the use of anti-caking agents and also imposes strict limits on contamination levels: total impurities must be less than 0.3%, halides (excluding chloride) must be less than 0.1%, and copper must not exceed 0.3 ppm. These limits require highly purified salt.
Not only does ASTM B117 require purity, but other international corrosion testing standards are equally demanding.
To ensure that Corrosale fully meets these requirements, Galli supplies each package of Corrosale with a Certificate of Analysis that guarantees its quality.

Galli Salt Spray Corrosion Chambers – CORROTEST-T Model
The Galli CORROTEST-T salt spray corrosion chambers are designed for performing tests in accordance with ASTM B117, ISO 9227, NSS, ASS, and CASS standards. The intuitive touch-screen control and the availability of various chamber sizes make these systems suitable for a wide range of testing applications.

Features:
Test chamber made of fiberglass coated with corrosion-resistant plastic.
Upward-opening lid with inspection window (model T01 features a fully transparent lid).
Lockable wheels for easy movement and positioning.
High-efficiency heating elements positioned at the bottom of the chamber.
Tower-type spray system with adjustable height and spray volume; resistant to high temperatures and corrosion, equipped with easy-to-clean quartz nozzles.
Solution tank with automatic agitation system.
Air saturator with low water level protection: if water is missing, the saturator stops working and no fog is produced.
Color touch-screen control system displaying all parameters.
USB port for data export.
Ethernet port for LAN or PC connection.
PT100 temperature sensor.

Safety Devices:
Over-temperature protection
Low water level protection
Circuit breaker protection

A CCT Cyclic Salt Spray is able to reproduce, in the same chamber:
– a saline environment (the same as Salt Spray Chambers)
– a dry environment
– a humid environment even with condensation
Furthermore, it is possible to create and reproduce Cyclic Tests with different thermo-climatic environments, thanks to the wide range of accessories. All these situations can be programmed by selecting temperatures, times, sequences, number of cycles, repetitions, all with the same test chamber. Flexible and at a fair price, these chambers are ideal for research and development applications.

Galli exclusively offers Ascott Analytical CCT Cyclic Salt Spray chambers.
We propose Ascott because it is a leading company like us and we like to offer the best to our customers.
