Seed Separator

The device allows you to quickly and easily separate light and heavy seeds. Ideal for cleaning and characterization activities of CWR (Crop Wild Relatives) at plant germplasm banks. The seeds are placed inside a drawer in the acrylic glass cylinder. A fine mesh filter closes the top of the cylinder. A speed-controlled fan generates a constant flow of air upwards inside the cylinder. The seeds, depending on their size and weight, fall into one of the three collection containers located on the sides of the cylinder. This way the lighter seeds will fall into the upper container, while the heavier ones will fall into the lower one. An additional filter at the bottom of the cylinder prevents seeds from entering the fan. When the appliance is turned off, the filter will contain a deposit consisting of residues and any small stones.
